Yesterday was national I Love To Write Day, so in honor of this national creative fest, I am challenging all of you who read this to send me a link to your best Medium article in the comments section.

I started writing as a teenager, when the words wouldn’t get out of my head as I lay awake in bed. There was something about being on the pillow when the day was done to get my creative gears moving. I often got back out of bed to write short stories, some of them good, but none of them were ever published.

I wrote in journals all the time, and continued writing in high school and chose “Creative Writing” for career day. They put me in Journalism, but I knew then it wasn’t what I wanted to do. I just always knew I wanted to write.

I went to college and the question of a major came up and I wrote “Creative Writing.” Again I was put into the Journalism tract. After repeatedly falling asleep in Typography and Fonts class, I knew Journalism was not my future. However, I did take enough Journalism classes to learn about research and structuring the nonfiction article. I settled on a major of Radio/TV/Film because the industry always needed writers, right?
