You read it right. In 1957 on December 29th the Detroit Lions defeated the Cleveland Browns 59–14 in the NFL Championship. They won this game without their starting quarterback.

Why is this significant today?

There is talk the Lions may actually break NFL history this year as they could be a contender for the 2023 Super Bowl. A very slim chance…

The Lions have never won a Super Bowl, in fact they’ve never even played in the Super Bowl. It’s been 65 years since the Lions have won a title game and this was before there was a Super Bowl.

They have notoriously lost, in fact they are featured in the HBO series Hard Knocks.

Just saying, I’ll believe it when I see it but if they do make it to the bowl game, it will be another history breaking day.
