Landing On The Moon: What Took Us 50 years?

Today in history, America returns to the moon, successfully landing the Odysseus spacecraft on the surface. This is the first time we have landed on the moon in 50 years.

We have had decades of space science, space shuttles, space stations, telescopes, and advancement in knowledge of space. Commercial space travel is beginning to expand, after the maiden flights of Spacex. Even Star Trek’s Captain Kirk (William Shatner) had the opportunity to actually fly into space and experience zero-gravity and the view of our planet in a short commercial space flight.

With all the advancements, we have made, it may be important to look back at NASA’s original 1969 space plan, to have a human Mars mission by 1981, with a permanent Mars base by 1988. It’s a good day to ask why has it taken so long since 1972 to return to the moon and the quest for space?
