I disagree on this only because Sky doesn’t learn what is happening to her until late in the film.

… … to familiarity, but I think this is a slightly better film, for reasons I’ll come to presently. In fact, if you’ve not seen the original, I’d even advise starting with Smile 2, as no prior knowledge is required.

I disagree on this only because Sky doesn’t learn what is happening to her until late in the film. Knowing what smile is would help audiences understand the parasite.
