I am from Toledo, Ohio. I remember an article coming out in the newspaper about the brain drain. At the time it made me angry. I was college educated and was still living in Toledo. However as I now live in Maryland, I am looking at it from the other side. We left Ohio in 2000. I have never wanted to go back. Simple minds, without understanding of a world out there frighten me. So yes, there is a brain drain. And we realize by leaving that we were in a bubble.
