On this day in history, it’s significant to note two Asian American actors have earned top honors at the Golden Globes. Just as Evelyn Quan Wang (Michelle Yeoh) showed superhero skills jumping parallel universes, the recognition of these actors by the motion picture industry is no small feat.

Michelle Yeoh has been acting over 40 years and, at age 60, has finally been recognized for her work. She has been in many movies, including Tomorrow Never Dies, Memoirs of a Geisha, Crazy Rich Asians, and Star Trek Discovery.

Ke Huy Quan was awarded Best Supporting Actor. He may be remembered for his delightful character Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. He was also in Goonies, Head of the Class and Encino Man.
