I am delighted to wish Carol Burnett a Happy 91st Birthday today!

I have been watching this wonderfully funny, smart, savvy woman since the early days when she did the “Carol Burnett Show” from 1967–1978.

This variety show was one of a kind, with a sum so much greater than its parts. In interviews when talking about the show, Burnett has stressed the importance of collaboration. Each of the actors, Harvey Korman, Tim Conway, Vicki Lawrence, Lyle Waggoner and Dick Van Dyke, had their own specialties and together they were hysterical.

Burnett brought to life the maid who cleaned up at night, Mrs. Wiggins, Eunice and the infamous Scarlett O’Hara. Who can forget “Went with the Wind!” when she came down the stairs wearing the green plush curtains-with the curtain rod going across her shoulders. Tim Conway and Harvey Korman were saying the words to “Dixie” and trying not to laugh at each other’s antics:

“I wish I was in the land of cotton,” Conway says wistfully.

“Old times there were not forgotten,” Korman responds.
