59 years ago, the Beatles arrived in New York City and were greeted by hoards of adoring fans. Not only did this begin Beatlemania in America, it changed the tune of music forever.

The Beatles music was unique, fun, daring and antiestablishment. Teenagers could not get enough. Clothing, hair, music and even the way teenagers rebelled were all influenced by the British Invasion of Beatlemania.

You have to wonder if John, George, Ringo and Paul had any idea of how spectacular their arrival in the US would be. These young twenty-year-olds would soon find themselves embroiled in changing the trajectory of music and history in America.

I grew up on the Beatles, as I had older siblings. They would listen to the 45 records all the time. I knew every song. I remember them crying when we heard the news “Paul is dead.” American teens were stunned. Fortunately, the publicity stunt was soon discovered, and kids could breathe again.
