On January 2, 1994 Rudolph Giuliani was sworn in as New York City’s mayor. It is ironic to mention this as CNN is about to air an in-depth series about the man.

Much is being written about how Giuliani went from being a crime fighting batman to anti-democracy buffoon in the span of 29 years. Giuliani fought corruption as a prosecutor and was elected as Mayor as a result. His work for NYC was notable and effective. He became America’s Mayor during the chaos and destruction of September 11th. He brought the City of New York and the country together to deal with the crisis and aftermath.

Here are a few good articles about the rise and fall of the man.
