Agreed, this plot hole did bother me!

…ory should have instead let Weyland Corporation reclaim it as it passes over their colony (LV-410), bring crucial material down on the planet and have a colony-centric outbreak of Facehuggers and Xenomorphs as we witness the chaos unfold and our characters struggle for survival amidst 1000s of colonists. The setting would be fresh and a big plot hole would be plugged.
